He (leader of the Edwin Hawkins Singers) was best known for the Gospel hit "Oh Happy Day" (1968–69). Tramaine Hawkins - American award–winning Gospel singer spanning over five decades. She has won two Grammy Awards, two Doves, and 19 Stellar Awards.
